Changing the Way People, Politics & the Media Look at Sex

Pulling out

Q: I recently had sex with this girl and didn’t use a condom. Can she get pregnant even if I pulled out before ejaculating?

Dr. Klein: Most men excrete some pre-ejaculatory fluid from the penis during sexual arousal. This fluid is loaded with sperm. Thus, even if you don’t ejaculate, you can impregnate a woman during intercourse. That is why it is important to use a condom or other form of contraception every time you have even a moment of intercourse if you don’t want to create a pregnancy. “Pulling out” is not a reliable means of birth control.
